Abbotsford FC were awarded a corner in the 4th minute after Southern Thrashers's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Pierre Haeberle took the corner. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Southern Thrashers's goalie and right to Sever Corbu. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Southern Thrashers's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. A collision led to Abbotsford FC getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Sever Corbu hit a great ball. In the 11th minute the ball was on its way in behind Southern Thrashers's goalkeeper Eliot Pfingst, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Eliot Pfingst showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sever Corbu, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denny Commons in the 13th minute of play forced Southern Thrashers's goalkeeper Eliot Pfingst to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 15 minutes had been played when some careless play by Southern Thrashers's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Pierre Haeberle was slow to take the kick. During this time Abbotsford FC's players had a chance to rest. Pierre Haeberle made a great header on Abbotsford FC's corner, it was just that Southern Thrashers's Eliot Pfingst managed to reach the ball for a save. Eliot Pfingst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yakut Vecihi in the 44th minute of play. Eliot Pfingst showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denny Commons in the 46th minute of the match. After the first half Abbotsford FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cai Inestrosa was the one to do the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Southern Thrashers's zone, Abbas Ağayarov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eliot Pfingst came out of the goal and Abbas Ağayarov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eliot Pfingst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Denny Commons in the 64th minute of play. If Sever Corbu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Denny Commons in the 72nd minute of play forced Southern Thrashers's goalkeeper Eliot Pfingst to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute, Sebastián Szymanski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 80th minute Denny Commons shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eliot Pfingst saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Abbotsford FC booed when Southern Thrashers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bleyd Dorrell didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought it was a sure goal in the 86th minute, when Abbotsford FC's Pierre Haeberle after having done a great run through the defense got himself free with Eliot Pfingst in Southern Thrashers's goal and fired away a shot, but it missed the goal by a fraction of an inch. 88 minutes into the match, Southern Thrashers's goal looked a bit too open when Abbas Ağayarov came free, but Eliot Pfingst reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. With a little luck, Southern Thrashers's Eliot Pfingst got control of the ball when Sever Corbu tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Yakut Vecihi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Southern Thrashers fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Abbotsford FC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
