The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 12th minute of the game. One of Darwin Saville FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Abbotsford FC:s goal. Carman Tinsley showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Denny Commons in the 18th minute of the match. In the 20th minute of the match Abbotsford FC got a corner. Darwin Saville FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Pierre Haeberle ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led to Abbotsford FC's Sever Corbu getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Sever Corbu took the ball and in the 23 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carman Tinsley. Carman Tinsley dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 26th minute, Göran Jonasson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Darwin Saville FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Göran Jonasson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Lei Wei Lin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lei Wei Lin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Göran Jonasson in the 28th minute.
