In the 10th minute, Franco Nero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 16 played minutes Borgo Doria F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Lars Hellström. After 19 played minutes all players for sale got a freekick which was hit by Ettore Cianci. When Fabio Bottone came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Borgo Doria F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabio Bottone couldn't finish the play. Borgo Doria F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Alberto Scutti in the 28th minute. The corner led Borgo Doria F.C.'s Alberto Scutti to fire away a dangerous shot which Enrico Albertosi despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Corrado Spitaleri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Franco Nero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Borgo Doria F.C.'s Fabio Bottone was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 34th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Franco Nero in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Corrado Spitaleri prevented the ball from getting in the gole. all players for sale's Enrico Albertosi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ercole Mian in the 39th minute of play. Enrico Albertosi made a fantastic save in the 43rd minute, when Alberto Scutti sent off a good shot on target. In the 46th minute Ercole Mian shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Enrico Albertosi saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Franco Nero stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 50 minutes, Alberto Scutti put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Enrico Albertosi. Enrico Albertosi breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. There was no doubt that Borgo Doria F.C. were the better team. Borgo Doria F.C.'s players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
