After a rather tough play, Valette Stars's Guillaume Chaine got a free kick in the 15th minute. Adrien Tanneau made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cyrille Melon in the 17th minute of play. After 18 minutes Valette Stars's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Renan Bouzat who took care of the corner kick. It was a well-played corner which Cyprien Auguste managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Mihail Toader managed to get in a good position for a shot. R.C. Marseille's supporters rose to their feet, but Mihail Toader was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Adrien Tanneau breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 22nd minute, Cyrille Melon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a little luck, Valette Stars's Adrien Tanneau got control of the ball when Cyrille Melon tried to sneak it across the goal line. Didier Lafargue showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Guillaume Chaine in the 46th minute of the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cyrille Melon was the one to do the kick off. Jean-Marc Buisson hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Djibril Mourot replaced Mihail Toader. Valette Stars's Karol Rakoski quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Joe Plantin, made in the 70th minute of the game. Adrien Tanneau made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Djibril Mourot in the 72nd minute of play. Rafail Rusev could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 73rd minute of the match, but Didier Lafargue made a huge save. In the 79th minute Valette Stars were awarded a corner. Fabian Walme went to the cornerflag to take it. Valette Stars's Fabian Walme was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Didier Lafargue in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cyrille Melon in the 83rd minute of play forced Valette Stars's goalkeeper Adrien Tanneau to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Didier Lafargue took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Guillaume Chaine, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 87th minute Guillaume Chaine shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Didier Lafargue saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julien Chassot got free with Didier Lafargue in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
