In the 9th minute of the game Carlos Alberto Simão made a throw-in which Agustin Pillado played forward. An unexpectedly hard shot by Macías Botello in the 16th minute of play forced C.A. GUAYACO's goalkeeper Oso Amezaga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oso Amezaga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Macías Botello in the 20th minute of play. Macías Botello recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 25th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 28 played minutes C.A. GUAYACO got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Alberto Simão. In the 30th minute, Macías Botello made a precise shot to the right of Oso Amezaga. C.A. GUAYACO's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After 33 played minutes Miguir got a freekick which was hit by Zenon Bispo. 35 minutes into the match, Miguir's goalkeeper René Vignal had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Caicedo Berrondo. The audience was convinced that Caicedo Berrondo's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but René Vignal was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Macías Botello in the 39th minute of play forced C.A. GUAYACO's goalkeeper Oso Amezaga to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Oso Amezaga showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Macías Botello in the 42nd minute of the match. Oso Amezaga made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Macías Botello in the 44th minute of play. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

René Vignal took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luís Ferreira, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of C.A. GUAYACO booed when Miguir was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zenon Bispo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Caicedo Berrondo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without René Vignal having to interfere. After 65 played minutes Miguir got a freekick which was hit by Javier Iruegas. C.A. GUAYACO made a substitution. Vincent Murieta replaced Luis Rechani. C.A. GUAYACO's Mendoza Joseph was substituted for Caicedo Berrondo. Javier Iruegas kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Sérgio Silveira in the 74th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck René Vignal prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 80th minute, Miguir's Macías Botello dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. After having played for 86 minutes, Macías Botello managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Miguir's supporters crossed their fingers, but Macías Botello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luís Ferreira in the 91st minute of play forced Miguir's goalkeeper René Vignal to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Miguir's René Vignal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mendoza Joseph in the 92nd minute of play. In the 94th minute, Macías Botello got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The Miguir supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Miguir would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
