The supporters of ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣ booed when Colo-Colo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Honorio Droguett didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristopher Damian in the 10th minute of play forced Colo-Colo's goalkeeper Eladio Escalona to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 16 minutes into the match, ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣'s goal looked a bit too open when Ivo Basay came free, but Clemente Savier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience was convinced that Carlitos Caszely's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Clemente Savier was relentless in the 17th minute of the game. 19 minutes into the game, Colo-Colo's Honorio Droguett nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Clemente Savier made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. The crowd rose to their feet as Ubarna Marcos kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Eladio Escalona. That made the score 1-1 in the 21 minute of play. Clemente Savier made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ivo Basay in the 28th minute of play. Eladio Escalona took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristopher Damian, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Clemente Savier showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlitos Caszely in the 35th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marcelo Salas got free with Eladio Escalona in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 39th play minute Marcelo Salas came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Eladio Escalona. 2-1. Honorio Droguett recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ivo Basay was the one to do the kick off. Ivo Basay charged in rather forcefully in the 50th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Ivo Basay the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Colo-Colo getting a freekick after 50 minutes play. Ivo Basay hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Carlitos Caszely in the 53rd minute of play forced ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣'s goalkeeper Clemente Savier to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Carlitos Caszely had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Colo-Colo's Pablo Solari was substituted for Carlitos Caszely. Honorio Droguett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Clemente Savier having to interfere. Roger Lantadilla's late challenge caught a Colo-Colo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Roger Lantadilla helped the player get up and apologised. In the 72nd minute, one of ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. Isadoro Lurquín's late challenge caught a Colo-Colo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Isadoro Lurquín helped the player get up and apologised. In a very dangerous position, a player in ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣ fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 90th minute. Penalty! ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣:s Clemente Savier showed great skill when he stopped Jerzy Smolak:s penalty. 2-3 came in the 92nd minute when Jerzy Smolak all by himself managed to get straight through the defense and place the ball into the net to the right of Clemente Savier. 97 minutes into the match, ☣ⓇⓄⒸⓀⒺⓉ   -⃝ⓅⓄⓌⒺⓇ☣'s goal looked a bit too open when Ivo Basay came free, but Clemente Savier reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Clemente Savier made a fantastic save in the 100th minute, when Ivo Basay sent off a good shot on target. Colo-Colo's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
