Nihat Benlioğlu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fodil Otman in the 17th minute of the match. 20 minutes into the game, Trabzon's Gencer Uluöz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nihat Benlioğlu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Yu Wen Chao lost his temper 24 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 23rd minute, one of Trabzon:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Trabzon. Trabzon:s Mustafa Hamit Kutlu showed great skill when he stopped Alpertunga Cevar:s penalty. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gencer Uluöz in the 27th minute of play forced BEŞİKTAŞK's goalkeeper Nihat Benlioğlu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 27 minutes in the game, Fodil Otman dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. 28 minutes into the game, Ahmet Baki Mertkal was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. BEŞİKTAŞK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Trabzon the free kick. The supporters of Trabzon booed when BEŞİKTAŞK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ahmet Baki Mertkal didn't get a good kick on the ball. 29 minutes into the game, Fodil Otman cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Nihat Benlioğlu was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 34 minutes into the game, Trabzon's Zaid Sağanalp nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nihat Benlioğlu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. 41 minutes into the match, Fodil Otman had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nihat Benlioğlu. BEŞİKTAŞK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fodil Otman was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gencer Uluöz in the 45th minute of play forced BEŞİKTAŞK's goalkeeper Nihat Benlioğlu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 46 minutes into the match, Trabzon's goal looked a bit too open when Bulut İrgun came free, but Mustafa Hamit Kutlu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fodil Otman to make the kick off. 57 minutes into the game, Trabzon's Fodil Otman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. In the 66th match minute, BEŞİKTAŞK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alpertunga Cevar to maneuver through the defense. In the 67th minute, Keijo Kungla got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Erhan Esenboğa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Fodil Otman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Nihat Benlioğlu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nihat Benlioğlu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gencer Uluöz, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Gencer Uluöz kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nihat Benlioğlu. That made the score 0-8 in the 89 minute of play. In the 96th play minute Fodil Otman came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Nihat Benlioğlu. 0-9.
