The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Castanheiro SC's Fernandão Penha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcello Lewandowski in the 3rd minute of play. In the 7th minute the ball was on its way in behind Castanheiro SC's goalkeeper Fernandão Penha, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 8 minutes into the match, Marcello Lewandowski had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Fernandão Penha. Castanheiro SC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcello Lewandowski was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 11th minute Marcello Lewandowski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fernandão Penha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tribos's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Pedrinho Figueiredo in the 13th minute. The corner led to Tribos's Christopher Sjögren getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. In the 18th minute, Marcello Lewandowski made a precise shot to the right of Fernandão Penha. Castanheiro SC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. Fernandão Penha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marcello Lewandowski's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. In the 28th match minute, Castanheiro SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Umberto Dionísio to maneuver through the defense. 31 minutes into the match, Tribos's goalkeeper Edvin van der Saar had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eliézer da Silveira. In the 36th minute, Umberto Dionísio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 38th minute, Marcello Lewandowski ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fernandão Penha was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. After some careless play in the Castanheiro SC defense, Marcello Lewandowski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fernandão Penha. The Castanheiro SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fernandão Penha should have stopped the shot. After the first half Tribos were leading 0-4. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eliézer da Silveira was the one to do the kick off. Fernandão Penha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcello Lewandowski in the 52nd minute. Fernandão Penha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcello Lewandowski, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. 59 minutes into the game, Tribos's Marcello Lewandowski nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fernandão Penha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-5. Tribos's Zé Paulo da Fonseca was substituted for Marcel Urbano. Marcello Lewandowski's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fernandão Penha read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 67th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Marcello Lewandowski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fernandão Penha was relentless in the 69th minute of the game. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Eliézer da Silveira in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Edvin van der Saar prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a little luck, Castanheiro SC's Fernandão Penha got control of the ball when Cristiano Faria tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Castanheiro SC's Eliézer da Silveira in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Tribos's goalie prevented a goal. Marcello Lewandowski could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Fernandão Penha made a huge save. In the 84th minute, Marcello Lewandowski ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Fernandão Penha was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-6. 88 minutes into the game, Francisco de Godoi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Castanheiro SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Tribos the free kick. After a defensive mix-up in Castanheiro SC's zone, Pedrinho Figueiredo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fernandão Penha came out of the goal and Pedrinho Figueiredo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Célio Pena was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 94 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 93rd minute of the game. One of Castanheiro SC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Tribos:s goal. In the 96th minute, the referee gave Tribos a penalty. Jaroslaw Winograd looked confident and blasted the ball into goal by the left post, totally unstoppable for Fernandão Penha. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Tribos walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
