The referee ignored Club Sportiv Medgidia's protests and gave Sebastian Matei a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Club Sportiv Medgidia getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Sebastian Matei hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Stelian Hulubei managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Sportiv Medgidia's supporters rose to their feet, but Stelian Hulubei was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gustavo Galindo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The Candelaria FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gustavo Galindo should have stopped the shot. Candelaria FC's Gustavo Galindo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Augustin Horea in the 34th minute of play. Gustavo Galindo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Augustin Horea in the 46th minute of the match. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Club Sportiv Medgidia played a much better game than Candelaria FC and deserved their victory. The Candelaria FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
