The goalkeeper smacked the ball away after a great corner, but Lautaro Blanco advanced and headed the ball into goal, 1-0 in the 6th minute. If Wesley Teles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Blas-Armando Giunta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 11th minute of the match, but Hamílton Rezende made a huge save. Desiderio Frederik stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Wesley Teles's shot from short distance in the 16th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ezequiel Fernández in the 18th minute of play forced October 04's goalkeeper Hamílton Rezende to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Sporting de Gijón booed when October 04 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Paulo Paes didn't get a good kick on the ball. Blas-Armando Giunta could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Hamílton Rezende made a huge save. Desiderio Frederik took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wesley Teles, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amadeo Panpili to maneuver through the defense. With a little luck, October 04's Hamílton Rezende got control of the ball when Celedonio Kinsen tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Celedonio Kinsen fell near the penalty area in the 60th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting de Gijón's protests and gave Celedonio Kinsen a yellow card for diving instead. After 60 played minutes Sporting de Gijón got a freekick which was hit by Celedonio Kinsen. Hamílton Rezende showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Blas-Armando Giunta, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. 64 minutes into the match, October 04's goal looked a bit too open when Blas-Armando Giunta came free, but Hamílton Rezende reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. October 04's Hamílton Rezende played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Blas-Armando Giunta in the 64th minute of play. Fabinho Falcão charged in rather forcefully in the 66th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fabinho Falcão the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to October 04 getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Fabinho Falcão hit a great ball. Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Gustavo Quintin replaced Eloy Timo. After a rather tough play, October 04's Fabinho Falcão got a free kick in the 68th minute. Hamílton Rezende showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Blas-Armando Giunta, who was totally free with the ball in the 72nd minute. Egídio Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Desiderio Frederik tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as October 04's Wesley Teles slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Desiderio Frederik. That made the score 2-1 after 76 minutes of play. In the 82ndth minute of the game Wesley Teles who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting de Gijón's Desiderio Frederik was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 83rd match minute, Sporting de Gijón was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ezequiel Fernández to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 84th minute, Wesley Teles managed to get in a good position for a shot. October 04's supporters rose to their feet, but Wesley Teles was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Desiderio Frederik breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Sporting de Gijón fans cheered their team off the field, for while October 04 had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
