Murillo Cabral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomás de Castro in the 5th minute of play. Elano de Salles had several of the BOTAFOGO's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 11 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Murillo Cabral as he didn't even see the shot coming. BOTAFOGO's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Tomás de Castro 13 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 2-0. A hard shot 19 in the game by Elano de Salles from a close distance when the talented Murillo Cabral managed to make a qualified save. BOTAFOGO's players were relieved. In the 20th match minute, Fabiofs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Milton Friedman to maneuver through the defense. Elano de Salles sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wesley Carvalho hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. A sloppy throw-in by Fellipe Pimenta in the 30th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Fabiofs's Gonçalo Massa. Elano de Salles's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 32ndth minute, Murillo Cabral skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Elano de Salless short, quick shot in the 32ndth minute got Murillo Cabral to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Fabiofs's Tomás de Castro got a good chance for a goal in the 34th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Milton Friedman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Elano de Salles's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Murillo Cabral read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 40th minute of play. If Elano de Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 46th minute, Fabiofs got a penalty, and Milton Friedman placed the ball unsaveable into goal, by the right post.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Wesley Carvalho made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, BOTAFOGO's goal looked a bit too open when Tomás de Castro came free, but Murillo Cabral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the BOTAFOGO defense, Elano de Salles kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Murillo Cabral. The BOTAFOGO fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Murillo Cabral should have stopped the shot. Murillo Cabral showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elano de Salles in the 62nd minute of the match. BOTAFOGO's Murillo Cabral played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elano de Salles in the 63rd minute of play. Tomás de Castro struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Murillo Cabral didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Fabiofs. In the 74th match minute, Fabiofs was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Júlio Gaspar to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot by Inácio Neves from long distance, 75 minutes into the match, got Pedro Mazza's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 78 minutes into the match, Gonçalo Massa notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of BOTAFOGO's Murillo Cabral. Murillo Cabral was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 83 minutes, Tomás de Castro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fabiofs's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tomás de Castro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Murillo Cabral came out of the goal in the 85th minute to try and stop a shot by Fabiofs's Milton Friedman. But to his dismay, Milton Friedman quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 6-0. Murillo Cabral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Milton Friedman, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Júlio Gaspar during the 91st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Fabiofs had won after a very even match.
