The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-7 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After a rather tough play, Purple Talents's Donato Azevedo got a free kick in the 69th minute. After having played for 75 minutes, Michel Batistuta managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Purple Talents's supporters crossed their fingers, but Michel Batistuta was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some careless play in the Rot-Weiss-Essen defense, Michel Batistuta kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Uwe Ziege. The Rot-Weiss-Essen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Uwe Ziege should have stopped the shot. Purple Talents's Iker Carabajal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vasco Jackisch in the 83rd minute of play. Uwe Ziege made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tansel Visali in the 84th minute of play. In the 86th minute Purple Talents were awarded a corner. Christof Bernage went to the cornerflag to take it. Christof Bernage made a great header on Purple Talents's corner, it was just that Rot-Weiss-Essen's Uwe Ziege managed to reach the ball for a save. A throw-in in the 92nd minute of the game was made by Hannes Kapell with Hektor Krieglmeier as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Hjalmar Blumentritt made in the 94th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Maurizio Brink. When the match had gone on for 97 minutes, Michel Batistuta took a quick shot and it went in 0-11 without a chance for Uwe Ziege to make any attempt to save it. The Rot-Weiss-Essen fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Purple Talents were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
