The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Jernej Petrovič had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Marian Anderjoli. Zelg FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jernej Petrovič was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Marian Anderjoli stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Duško Turnšek's shot from short distance in the 7th minute. HIT Gorica were awarded a corner in the 9th minute after Zelg FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. László Tar took the corner. With a little luck, Zelg FC's Marian Anderjoli got control of the ball when Duško Turnšek tried to sneak it across the goal line. Marian Anderjoli made an important save on a dangerous shot by Duško Turnšek in the 12th minute. The supporters of HIT Gorica booed when Zelg FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willem Migneault didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Duško Turnšek came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the HIT Gorica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Duško Turnšek couldn't finish the play. Konstantin Pančur showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gualtiero Nacht in the 19th minute of the match. The supporters of HIT Gorica booed when Zelg FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 22 match minutes in a wonderful position. Philippe Vehma didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 25 minutes, Philippe Vehma mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Zelg FC and the HIT Gorica players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 25 played minutes Zelg FC got a freekick which was hit by Philippe Vehma. Duško Turnšek in the 26thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Marian Anderjoli, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After a rather tough play, Zelg FC's Gilberto Theissl got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 37th minute, Willem Migneault hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. László Tar hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zlatko Goričan in the 45th minute of play forced Zelg FC's goalkeeper Marian Anderjoli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gualtiero Nacht hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. In the 47th match minute, HIT Gorica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rastislav Tomič to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gualtiero Nacht to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Zelg FC getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Willem Migneault hit a great ball. A collision led to Zelg FC getting a freekick after 56 minutes play. Philippe Vehma hit a great ball. HIT Gorica's Istok Šabotić was substituted for Duško Turnšek. Philippe Vehma kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 60th minute, Willem Migneault hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. HIT Gorica's Istok Šabotić got a good chance for a goal in the 61st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. HIT Gorica made a substitution. Teodosio Orzaize replaced Richard Koštomaj. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Venancio Abalos managed to get in a good position for a shot. HIT Gorica's supporters rose to their feet, but Venancio Abalos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marian Anderjoli breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Zelg FC's zone, Istok Šabotić stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Marian Anderjoli came out of the goal and Istok Šabotić tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Istok Šabotić received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Marian Anderjoli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Zelg FC's Laurenz Sprecher got a free kick in the 71st minute. Istok Šabotić struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Marian Anderjoli didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for HIT Gorica. When the match had gone on for 75 minutes, Istok Šabotić put it in 2-0 from a short distance just to the right of Marian Anderjoli. Istok Šabotić's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Marian Anderjoli read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Istok Šabotić in the 89th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Marian Anderjoli saved Zelg FC from getting behind. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Istok Šabotić put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Marian Anderjoli. When the referee ended the match the HIT Gorica players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
