The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, VN SOKOLI-VARNA's Eloi Ocomardia got a free kick in the 2nd minute. After a defensive mix-up in VN SOKOLI-VARNA's zone, Manuel Stepanyan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Haralampi Kúrkelanov came out of the goal and Manuel Stepanyan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Haralampi Kúrkelanov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arno Martirosyan, who was totally free with the ball in the 8th minute. Trifon Mladenov hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. The supporters of Khachatryan booed when VN SOKOLI-VARNA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Neno Vladimirov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Haralampi Kúrkelanov made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alex Raţiu in the 32nd minute. 34 minutes into the match, VN SOKOLI-VARNA's goalkeeper Haralampi Kúrkelanov had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alex Raţiu. Haralampi Kúrkelanov showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Levon Khachaturyan, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Graig Duke's late challenge caught a VN SOKOLI-VARNA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Graig Duke helped the player get up and apologised. In the 39th minute, one of Khachatryan:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Khachatryan. When Khachatryan's Alex Raţiu in the 47th minute got a chance for a shot 47th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye VN SOKOLI-VARNA's goalie prevented a goal. After 47 played minutes VN SOKOLI-VARNA got a freekick which was hit by Zhelyazko Davidov. If Alex Raţiu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.

Serge Koryan stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rostislav Sitarski's shot from short distance in the 52nd minute. In the 54th minute, Alex Raţiu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Haralampi Kúrkelanov was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Manuel Stepanyan in the 63rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Haralampi Kúrkelanov prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Igor Bolyukov came up free with the goalie in the 65th minute, the VN SOKOLI-VARNA fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Igor Bolyukov couldn't finish the play. Khachatryan made a substitution. With a little luck, Khachatryan's Serge Koryan got control of the ball when Rostislav Sitarski tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 91stth minute of the game Arno Martirosyan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VN SOKOLI-VARNA's Haralampi Kúrkelanov was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Manuel Stepanyan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Chants of VN SOKOLI-VARNA echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Khachatryan had held the ball for most of the match.
