Joseph Gayoso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 37th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Grabiel Escorcia's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tristan Bétourne read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 39th minute of play. After 41 minutes Royal PSG's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Xu Sha who took care of the corner kick. Grabiel Escorcia made a great header on Nacional's corner, it was just that Royal PSG's Tristan Bétourne managed to reach the ball for a save. When the match clock showed 41 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Grabiel Escorcia sped through Royal PSG's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Tristan Bétourne. After the first half Nacional were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When Nacional's José Luis Rodríguez, in the 84th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Nacional.
