Brujas KV's Renato Portalupi got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pablo Roso hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Petruț Dicu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emil Juravschi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Brujas KV booed when UFC Puturoasa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Emil Juravschi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Renato Portalupi took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 29th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Petr Čech. UFC Puturoasa's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Emil Juravschi in the 31st minute of play forced Brujas KV's goalkeeper Petruț Dicu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Petr Čech showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Renato Portalupi, who was totally free with the ball in the 33rd minute. 41 minutes into the game, Brujas KV's Renato Portalupi nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Petr Čech made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-4. 45 minutes into the match, Brujas KV's goal looked a bit too open when Emil Juravschi came free, but Petruț Dicu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vladimir Griceanu took the ball and in the 47 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Petruț Dicu. Petruț Dicu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Brujas KV's Martin Mundo was substituted for Israel Otsando. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-4 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Emil Juravschi was the one to do the kick off. In the last second Petr Čech throw himself and got hold of the ball when Conrado Romero in the 54thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Brujas KV's Petruț Dicu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stefan Vanghele in the 56th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Renato Portalupi in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Petr Čech saved UFC Puturoasa from getting behind. Emil Sângeorzan's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Petruț Dicu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. Petruț Dicu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vladimir Griceanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. In the 68th minute, Conrado Romero left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Brujas KV fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. Renato Portalupi came free with the goalkeeper in the 73rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Petr Čech could save by the left post. Petr Čech made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Codruț Domuță in the 76th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Codruț Domuță's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Petr Čech was relentless in the 76th minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alexei Caraman in the 80th minute of play forced Brujas KV's goalkeeper Petruț Dicu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.
