With an all-out effort, Jarana FC's Alfredo Joey threw himself towards the right post 2 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Bartolo Buinton, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. 2 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Bartolo Buinton came free, but Alfredo Joey reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fernando Cavenaghi's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Alfredo Joey firmly grabbed it by the left post. Evelio Milian made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Anthony Bonelli in the 9th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Valko De Hond got free with Alfredo Joey in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Alfredo Joey made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fernando Cavenaghi in the 15th minute. Alfredo Joey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bartolo Buinton in the 16th minute of play. Kalmer Üksvärav kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Evelio Milian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santiago Mino, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. In the 37th minute Sven-Arne Olsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evelio Milian saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Palermo booed when Jarana FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fernando Cavenaghi didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximino Gonzalez in the 40th minute of play forced Jarana FC's goalkeeper Evelio Milian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfredo Joey made a fantastic save in the 42nd minute, when Bartolo Buinton sent off a good shot on target. After 47 minutes, Kalmer Üksvärav mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Jarana FC and the Palermo players grew even worse after the yellow card. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Santiago Mino to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 56th minute Bartolo Buinton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alfredo Joey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alfredo Joey showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bartolo Buinton in the 68th minute of the match. If Bartolo Buinton had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 76th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Alfredo Joey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bartolo Buinton in the 76th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Santiago Mino in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Evelio Milian prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Palermo's Anacleto Itzaina was substituted for Alfred Olsson. A nice corner shot did that Sigve Rossland got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Alfredo Joey quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When the match clock showed 83 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Sigve Rossland sped through Palermo's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Alfredo Joey. After a rather tough play, Palermo's Maximino Gonzalez got a free kick in the 85th minute. Alfredo Joey made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wilfredo Gitano in the 91st minute of play. Alfredo Joey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wilfredo Gitano, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Jarana FC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Palermo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
