An unexpectedly hard shot by Fulgencio Peru in the 16th minute of play forced Municipales FC's goalkeeper Edvin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Municipales FC's Edvin van der Sar got control of the ball when Aristides Nastasio tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 35th minute, Aristides Nastasio ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edvin van der Sar was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 39th minute Aristides Nastasio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edvin van der Sar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Esteban Bladi in the 42nd minute of play forced Xeneizes's goalkeeper Amadeo-Raúl Carrizo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
