Måns Sandberg's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ionel Panaitoiu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 15th minute of play. When Norrlands Athen's Måns Sandberg in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. If Juan Lebron had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 31st minute Phoenix Strikers were awarded a corner. Olimpiu Mustea went to the cornerflag to take it. Safet Hands showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Olimpiu Mustea in the 33rd minute of the match. Ionel Panaitoiu made a fantastic save in the 34th minute, when Måns Sandberg sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olimpiu Mustea in the 40th minute of play forced Norrlands Athen's goalkeeper Safet Hands to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Måns Sandberg could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Ionel Panaitoiu made a huge save. 46 minutes into the match, Norrlands Athen's goal looked a bit too open when Emanuel Mascovescu came free, but Safet Hands reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Juan Lebron was the one to do the kick off. Ionel Panaitoiu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Huang Fei Ting, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Ionel Panaitoiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan Lebron in the 54th minute of play. Safet Hands showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Emanuel Mascovescu in the 59th minute of the match. After 62 minutes, Måns Sandberg made it 2-0 with a short kick to the right side. Phoenix Strikers's Ionel Panaitoiu tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Norrlands Athen made a substitution. Gilbert Hermansson replaced Måns Sandberg. In the 66th minute Calle Bergfelt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ionel Panaitoiu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Phoenix Strikers's Gigi Pantea got a free kick in the 67th minute.
