Marcos Ranolfo came out of the goal in the 23rd minute to try and stop a shot by Dinamita on Grass's Artur Bachor. But to his dismay, Artur Bachor quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 26th minute, Estudiantes de América's Kraig Fred dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Artur Bachor in the 30th minute of play forced Estudiantes de América's goalkeeper Marcos Ranolfo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Vito Castelao made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kraig Fred in the 33rd minute of play. 35 minutes into the match, Estudiantes de América's goal looked a bit too open when Artur Bachor came free, but Marcos Ranolfo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cornelio Ruisko sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Artur Bachor's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marcos Ranolfo was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. Dinamita on Grass's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Leandro Paredes in the 42nd minute. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
