Cristian Paulin was slow to take the kick. During this time BEIJO CARNAVAL's players had a chance to rest. Wayne Rooneys short, quick shot in the 22ndth minute got Godfredo Abarca to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Godfredo Abarca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Diego Maradona in the 23rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, BEIJO CARNAVAL's Rigoberto Olayo got a free kick in the 25th minute. After 27 played minutes BEIJO CARNAVAL got a freekick which was hit by Romulo Arias. The audience was convinced that Adam Jönsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Óscar Cordoba was relentless in the 31st minute of the game. Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Jönsson in the 44th minute of play forced Sporting de Gijón's goalkeeper Óscar Cordoba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wayne Rooney fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Godfredo Abarca having to interfere. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

Sporting de Gijón made a substitution. Saturnino Curcio replaced Kauan de Barros. In the 54th minute of the game Siro Paio made a throw-in which Adam Jönsson played forward. Romulo Arias kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. 64 minutes into the game, BEIJO CARNAVAL's Alonzo Lazcano nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Óscar Cordoba made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-3. After a rather tough play, Sporting de Gijón's Diego Maradona got a free kick in the 69th minute. Dorival Sarmento received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Óscar Cordoba came out and tried to block the shot, but Dorival Sarmento slotted it home off the left post making it 3-4 in the 70th minute. 79 minutes into the match, Sporting de Gijón's goal looked a bit too open when Dorival Sarmento came free, but Óscar Cordoba reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 81st minute, Aggelos Lazopoulos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sporting de Gijón's Óscar Cordoba played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Adam Jönsson in the 86th minute of play. Matias Bilintx struck a weak shot in the 88th minute. Godfredo Abarca didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Sporting de Gijón. In the 96th minute Matias Bilintx shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Godfredo Abarca saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. BEIJO CARNAVAL's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
