Julien Staffelbach could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 13th minute of the match, but Óscar Cordoba made a huge save. Óscar Cordoba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Arvid Carlsson's shot from short distance in the 13th minute. Jimmy Olsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matias Bilintx, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Albin Nilsson scored 3-0 in the 88th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Óscar Cordoba, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Linköpings AIK's George Gunnarsson was substituted for Joakim Mikaelsson. After some careless play in the Sporting de Gijón defense, Albin Nilsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Óscar Cordoba. The Sporting de Gijón fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Óscar Cordoba should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Linköpings AIK's zone, Matias Bilintx stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jimmy Olsson came out of the goal and Matias Bilintx tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.
