The Limburg United fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julius Vanneste should have stopped the shot. Julius Vanneste showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pipis Karapatakis, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. The audience was convinced that Pipis Karapatakis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julius Vanneste was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. With a little luck, Grêmio FBPA's Jardel Sanches got control of the ball when Bob Thielens tried to sneak it across the goal line. 38 minutes into the match, Limburg United's goal looked a bit too open when Pipis Karapatakis came free, but Julius Vanneste reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
