With a little luck, Gyál United's Horaţiu Petran got control of the ball when Tiberiu Caramarin tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nicodim Orășan's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Horaţiu Petran firmly grabbed it by the left post. Horaţiu Petran made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nicodim Orășan in the 15th minute. Horaţiu Petran was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Tiberiu Caramarin showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 16 minute of play. In the 22nd minute Tiberiu Caramarin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Horaţiu Petran saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tiberiu Caramarin in the 25th minute of play forced Gyál United's goalkeeper Horaţiu Petran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Horaţiu Petran made a fantastic save in the 28th minute, when Nicodim Orășan sent off a good shot on target. MIT's Calistrat Madgearu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Konstantinos Kroustallis in the 29th minute of play. Calistrat Madgearu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zoltán Varga in the 35th minute of the match. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Tiberiu Caramarin took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Horaţiu Petran to make any attempt to save it. Nicodim Orășan who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 40thth minute tested the skills of Horaţiu Petran when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After some careless play in the MIT defense, Konstantinos Kroustallis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Calistrat Madgearu. The MIT fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Calistrat Madgearu should have stopped the shot.

The wind increased when Tiberiu Caramarin made the kick off in the second half. Horaţiu Petran took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicodim Orășan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. MIT were awarded a corner in the 52th minute after Gyál United's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Romeo Gherghescu took the corner. MIT's Romeo Gherghescu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Horaţiu Petran in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Horaţiu Petran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nicodim Orășan in the 55th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Gyál United's goal looked a bit too open when Nicodim Orășan came free, but Horaţiu Petran reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Nicodim Orășan in the 64th minute of play forced Gyál United's goalkeeper Horaţiu Petran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Nicodim Orășan's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Horaţiu Petran was relentless in the 65th minute of the game. MIT's David Tunander was substituted for Dorin Banu. Gyál United's Horaţiu Petran played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiberiu Caramarin in the 72nd minute of play. MIT made a substitution. David Tunander blasted a shot towards the goal in the 88th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Horaţiu Petran having to make a save. Calistrat Madgearu made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ferry Ribéry in the 90th minute. If Ferry Ribéry had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Calistrat Madgearu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Zoltán Varga showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 3-2 in the 95 minute of play.
