The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kev Higgins in the 5th minute of play forced FC LIVERPOOL's goalkeeper Tommy Thompson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thomas Mitchell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rio Dunn in the 9th minute of play. 12 minutes into the game, Harchester United's Marcus Soares nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tommy Thompson made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. 15 minutes into the match, FC LIVERPOOL's goal looked a bit too open when Marcus Soares came free, but Tommy Thompson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 17th minute, FC LIVERPOOL's Ed Sills dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Tommy Thompson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marcus Soares in the 21st minute of play. In the 22nd minute Lloyd Hotte suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Des Bancroft during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Harchester United made a substitution. Les Cooke replaced Lloyd Hotte. A collision led to FC LIVERPOOL getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Des Bancroft hit a great ball. FC LIVERPOOL's Tommy Thompson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damon Furlong in the 26th minute of play. Tommy Thompson didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Harchester United's Darren Vaughan shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-2 in the ordered_time% minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ed Sills in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thomas Mitchell saved Harchester United from getting behind. The FC LIVERPOOL fans' excitement grew in the 29th match minute when FC LIVERPOOL's Ed Sills looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Tommy Thompson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Darren Vaughan, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Thomas Mitchell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ed Sills's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Tommy Thompson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Darren Vaughan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Harchester United's zone, Des Bancroft stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Thomas Mitchell came out of the goal and Des Bancroft tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tommy Thompson came out of the goal in the 42nd minute to try and stop a shot by Harchester United's Darren Vaughan. But to his dismay, Darren Vaughan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. Thomas Mitchell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ed Sills, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Marcus Soares kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Disappointed in the 2-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

FC LIVERPOOL made a substitution. Jeff Bignot replaced Mark Beattie. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rio Dunn to strike the kick off in the second half. Kurt Miles hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. Thomas Mitchell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rio Dunn in the 56th minute of play. Danny Busby scored 3-3 in the 58th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Thomas Mitchell, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of FC LIVERPOOL booed when Harchester United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marcus Soares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Tommy Thompson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kev Higgins in the 66th minute of the match. In the 68th match minute, FC LIVERPOOL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andrew Pringle to maneuver through the defense. Darren Vaughan who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 69thth minute tested the skills of Tommy Thompson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. With his leg Tommy Thompson managed to avoid a goal in the 69thth minute, when Harchester United's Darren Vaughan fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Ed Sills sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Des Bancroft's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Thomas Mitchell read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Darren Vaughan got free with Tommy Thompson in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ed Sills in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Thomas Mitchell saved Harchester United from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rio Dunn in the 85th minute of play forced Harchester United's goalkeeper Thomas Mitchell to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 89th minute Kev Higgins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Thompson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 91 minutes into the match, Harchester United's goal looked a bit too open when Rio Dunn came free, but Thomas Mitchell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After a rather tough play, Harchester United's Kev Higgins got a free kick in the 96th minute.
