Reijo Ilola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tero Haakana in the 11th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Karhulan Veikot's goal looked a bit too open when Ruud van Nistelrooij came free, but Reijo Ilola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Paavo Salmela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. But to his dismay, Paavo Salmela quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. The Manchester United FC fans' excitement grew in the 31st match minute when Manchester United FC's Tero Haakana looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Tero Haakana was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Paavo Salmela in the 54th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Reijo Ilola saved Karhulan Veikot from getting behind. In the 55th minute, Paavo Salmela got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Paavo Salmela had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Valentin Uusiniemi kicked well hit freekick during the 62nd minute of the match. Tero Haakana struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Reijo Ilola didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Manchester United FC. Paavo Salmela blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Reijo Ilola having to make a save. Reijo Ilola didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tero Haakana went, in the 83rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-6 was the resulting score. Tero Haakana scored 0-7 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Reijo Ilola, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Reijo Ilola showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paavo Salmela, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute. An unexpected shot in the 92nd minute by Tero Haakana got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. 95 minutes into the match, Karhulan Veikot's goalkeeper Reijo Ilola had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tero Haakana. The supporters of Manchester United FC booed when Karhulan Veikot was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 97 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joona Rosenqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Manchester United FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Karhulan Veikot throughout the match.
