In the 2nd minute, Hektor Krieglmeier ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Simon Vogelsang was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 6 minutes, Florian Hagen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Rot-Weiss-Essen and the TSV Delliehausen players grew even worse after the yellow card. Florian Hagen hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Elmar Brink charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Elmar Brink the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Elmar Brink kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. Simon Vogelsang showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivo Claus in the 13th minute of the match. In the 13th minute Ivo Claus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Simon Vogelsang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Knud Schröder in the 18th minute of play forced Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper Uwe Ziege to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Uwe Ziege made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Oliver Rexhaus sent off a good shot on target. Uwe Ziege stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Knud Schröder's shot from short distance in the 20th minute. Simon Vogelsang took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vasco Jackisch, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th minute Christian Plate shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Uwe Ziege saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Knud Schröder came up free with the goalie in the 28th minute, the TSV Delliehausen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Knud Schröder couldn't finish the play. Oliver Rexhaus hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. Vasco Jackisch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Simon Vogelsang showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivo Claus in the 37th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oliver Rexhaus in the 38th minute of play forced Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper Uwe Ziege to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 40 minutes into the match, TSV Delliehausen's goal looked a bit too open when Ivo Claus came free, but Simon Vogelsang reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 42 minutes of play TSV Delliehausen's Elmar Brink was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when TSV Delliehausen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elmar Brink didn't get a good kick on the ball. Hannes Kapell struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Simon Vogelsang didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rot-Weiss-Essen. After having played for 47 minutes, Knud Schröder managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. TSV Delliehausen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Knud Schröder was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Rot-Weiss-Essen were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Hannes Kapell came free with the goalkeeper in the 51st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Simon Vogelsang could save by the left post. 52 minutes into the match, TSV Delliehausen's goalkeeper Simon Vogelsang had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Florian Hagen. A collision led to Rot-Weiss-Essen getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Ivo Claus hit a great ball. In the 56th minute, Vasco Jackisch hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Georg Morawitz's late challenge caught a Rot-Weiss-Essen's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Georg Morawitz helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to TSV Delliehausen getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Georg Morawitz hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ivo Claus in the 58th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Simon Vogelsang prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 65 minutes into the game, Jo Felski was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Rot-Weiss-Essen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave TSV Delliehausen the free kick. After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Jo Felski got a free kick in the 65th minute. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Uwe Ziege played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Plate in the 74th minute of play. Georg Morawitz hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when TSV Delliehausen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 79 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dieter Kapelle didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Rot-Weiss-Essen walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
