With a little luck, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Uwe Ziege got control of the ball when Eckard Döngelli tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 6th match minute, SV Bad Harzburg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eckard Döngelli to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Björn Mokros in the 10th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tim Wiese saved SV Bad Harzburg from getting behind. SV Bad Harzburg's Tim Wiese played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Björn Mokros in the 11th minute of play. Uwe Ziege took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marc Richter, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Through an outstanding action, after 17 minutes, Uwe Ziege successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when SV Bad Harzburg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Marc Richter didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Halldor Sönksen to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, Sascha Andre Rennert dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Tim Wiese, 3-2. Tim Wiese made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Björn Mokros in the 56th minute of play. Uwe Ziege made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eckard Döngelli in the 59th minute of play. After some careless play in the Rot-Weiss-Essen defense, Halldor Sönksen kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Uwe Ziege. The Rot-Weiss-Essen fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Uwe Ziege should have stopped the shot. Björn Mokros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 90th minute. Tim Wiese tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 92 played minutes Rot-Weiss-Essen got a freekick which was hit by Maurizio Brink.
