But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pedro Mantorras couldn't finish the play. Gervásio Mascarenhas hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. In the 13th minute, Lucas Luis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Isidoro Fontoura was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Isidoro Fontoura took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pedro Mantorras, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A nice corner shot did that Enzo Bentes got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Isidoro Fontoura quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gervásio Mascarenhas got free with Robert Enke in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 20th match minute, FC Dezassete was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cândido Carvalheira to maneuver through the defense. 21 minutes into the match, Terceirense F.C.'s Pedro Mantorras sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Isidoro Fontoura narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Robert Enke showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valentim Carmona, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Pedro Mantorras stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 57th match minute, FC Dezassete was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cândido Carvalheira to maneuver through the defense. Gervásio Mascarenhas's late challenge caught a Terceirense F.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gervásio Mascarenhas helped the player get up and apologised. 62 minutes into the game, Lázaro Gago was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. FC Dezassete's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Terceirense F.C. the free kick. In the 61st minute, one of FC Dezassete:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for FC Dezassete. Lucas Luis received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Isidoro Fontoura tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Terceirense F.C.'s Angelo Guerreiro was substituted for Mário Rijo. When António Fontes fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Terceirense F.C.'s protests and gave António Fontes a yellow card for diving instead. Gregório Moutinho could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 77th minute of the match, but Isidoro Fontoura made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gregório Moutinho in the 85th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Isidoro Fontoura saved FC Dezassete from getting behind. In the 86th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Dezassete's goalkeeper Isidoro Fontoura, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 89 minutes into the match, Terceirense F.C.'s Gregório Moutinho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Isidoro Fontoura narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of FC Dezassete booed when Terceirense F.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rui Borges didn't get a good kick on the ball. Terceirense F.C.'s Gregório Moutinho was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 94th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. The throw-in from Flávio Sacramento in the 97th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FC Dezassete's Gatis Caca-Rato. The FC Dezassete supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Terceirense F.C.'s performance. The match ended with a win for Terceirense F.C..
