Albérico Vilaverde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Salvador Resende, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. 10 minutes into the game, Gremio Viana's Nicolau Soeiro nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Albérico Vilaverde made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Pedro Espírito Santo's late challenge caught a SC Braga's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pedro Espírito Santo helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of SC Braga booed when Gremio Viana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pedro Espírito Santo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Armindo Marques sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Leonardo Valido charged in rather forcefully in the 19th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Leonardo Valido the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nicolau Soeiro in the 28th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Albérico Vilaverde saved SC Braga from getting behind. Albérico Vilaverde stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nicolau Soeiro's shot from short distance in the 28th minute. Albérico Vilaverde showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolau Soeiro in the 34th minute of the match. In the 38th minute Antonio Calisto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albérico Vilaverde saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albérico Vilaverde came out of the goal in the 38th minute to try and stop a shot by Gremio Viana's Antonio Calisto. But to his dismay, Antonio Calisto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 47 minutes in the game Hugo Pinheiro did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Egídio Paixão. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Albérico Vilaverde didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Hildeberto Póvoas went, in the 55th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-3 was the resulting score. With a little luck, SC Braga's Albérico Vilaverde got control of the ball when Nicolau Soeiro tried to sneak it across the goal line. SC Braga's Albérico Vilaverde played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicolau Soeiro in the 66th minute of play. In the 93rd match minute, Gremio Viana was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Salvador Resende to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Gremio Viana had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
