The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. If Chu Tasso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After 9 minutes Tasso FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Tarcísio Palha who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Garanhão do SUL's Tarcísio Palha to fire away a dangerous shot which Monte Lobato despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Chu Tasso might have been able to make a better finish in the 11th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joel Maciel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Chu Tasso ran back to his position shaking his head. Joel Maciel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chu Tasso, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Joel Maciel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Chu Tasso in the 15th minute of play. Chu Tasso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joel Maciel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 21st minute of play. Joel Maciel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Juca Tasso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 32nd match minute, Tasso FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Machado Assis to maneuver through the defense. Tasso FC's Monte Lobato proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Tasso FC from getting a goal against them. Joel Maciel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Chu Tasso, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 37th minute the ball was on its way in behind Garanhão do SUL's goalkeeper Joel Maciel, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Tasso FC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Anton Ekblom in the 39th minute. Joel Maciel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Chu Tasso in the 41st minute of the match. Juca Tasso's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Joel Maciel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 42nd minute of play. Chu Tasso blasted a shot towards the goal in the 45th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joel Maciel having to make a save. After the first half Tasso FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Monte Lobato showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandre Vale, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Chu Tasso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 56th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 56th match minute, Garanhão do SUL was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Gaspar Valadão to maneuver through the defense. When Juca Tasso came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the Tasso FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Juca Tasso couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Garanhão do SUL booed when Tasso FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Chu Tasso didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Garanhão do SUL's Joel Maciel got control of the ball when Chu Tasso tried to sneak it across the goal line. 73 minutes into the match, Garanhão do SUL's goalkeeper Joel Maciel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chu Tasso. A collision led to Garanhão do SUL getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Israel Coutinho hit a great ball. When Anton Ekblom came up free with the goalie in the 75th minute, the Tasso FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Anton Ekblom couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richard Dawkins in the 80th minute of play forced Garanhão do SUL's goalkeeper Joel Maciel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 82 minutes into the match, Tasso FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tarcísio Palha came free, but Monte Lobato reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Damian Prokowski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Joel Maciel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Richard Dawkins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Elias Garikoitz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Brazilio Tasso had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
