Spectators: 35 (Terracing: 27, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Armando Beltza kicked off to start the match. After 4 played minutes Merengue FC got a freekick which was hit by Jacinto Frascuelo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gerardo Oinatz in the 7th minute of play forced Merengue FC's goalkeeper Cirilo Frichoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Armando Beltza kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cirilo Frichoso. That made the score 1-0 in the 10 minute of play. In the 13th minute, Cristian Elequemedo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Merengue FC's Jose Victoro got a free kick in the 16th minute. After 19 minutes, Marco Lonzo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Merengue FC and the Mainumby players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 20th minute, Jose Victoro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 22nd minute Armando Beltza shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cirilo Frichoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benigno Ilazki showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Santos Cordara, who was totally free with the ball in the 24th minute. Benigno Ilazki made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marco Lonzo in the 27th minute of play. 29 minutes into the match, Marco Lonzo notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Mainumby's Benigno Ilazki. Benigno Ilazki was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Benigno Ilazki took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Santos Cordara, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 35th match minute, Merengue FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Humberto Roano to maneuver through the defense. Jose Victoro struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Benigno Ilazki didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Merengue FC. After 39 minutes, Candido Cugat mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mainumby and the Merengue FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 39th minute, Candido Cugat hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eusebio Fiz was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 43 minutes into the match. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 42nd minute of the game. One of Mainumby:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Merengue FC:s goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Mainumby's Conrado Nisio was substituted for Honorato Omero. The Mainumby fans' excitement grew in the 61st match minute when Mainumby's Gerardo Oinatz looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. With his leg Benigno Ilazki managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Merengue FC's Santos Cordara fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Mainumby's goalkeeper Benigno Ilazki, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Jose Victoro was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 69th minute. Merengue FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Gerardo Oinatz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 72nd minute. Cirilo Frichoso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bernardo Benet hit a great freekick 77 minutes into the match. The supporters of Mainumby booed when Merengue FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Santos Cordara didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Santos Cordara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jose Victoro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 86th minute. Benigno Ilazki tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Gerardo Oinatz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Merengue FC's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
