When the match clock showed 4 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Santo Blanco sped through Bahía é Carnaval's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Sergio Romeri. After 7 played minutes Los Muchachos del 86 got a freekick which was hit by Sergio Birjaio. After some careless play in the Los Muchachos del 86 defense, Feliciano Fe kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ramiro Erasto. The Los Muchachos del 86 fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ramiro Erasto should have stopped the shot. After having played for 15 minutes, Melchor Nayely managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bahía é Carnaval's supporters crossed their fingers, but Melchor Nayely was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Sergio Romeri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erubiel Presebal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Melchor Nayely received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Ramiro Erasto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Bahía é Carnaval's Sergio Romeri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Pabla in the 21st minute of play. In the 23rd minute Joel Pabla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sergio Romeri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bahía é Carnaval's Sergio Romeri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Santo Blanco in the 28th minute of play. Sergio Romeri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erubiel Presebal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ramiro Erasto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Melchor Nayely in the 32nd minute of play. When Feliciano Fe came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Bahía é Carnaval fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Feliciano Fe couldn't finish the play. In the 36th minute Justo Licerio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sergio Romeri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sergio Romeri took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erubiel Presebal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Pablo Teofilio's late challenge caught a Los Muchachos del 86's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Pablo Teofilio helped the player get up and apologised. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Joel Pabla to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Los Muchachos del 86's goal looked a bit too open when Feliciano Fe came free, but Ramiro Erasto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Feliciano Fe fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ramiro Erasto having to interfere. 54 minutes into the match, Los Muchachos del 86's goal looked a bit too open when Froilan Gau came free, but Ramiro Erasto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 59 minutes, Froilan Gau made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Los Muchachos del 86's Ramiro Erasto tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Bahía é Carnaval's Sergio Romeri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Pabla in the 64th minute of play. Sergio Birjaio kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. With an all-out effort, Los Muchachos del 86's Sergio Romeri threw himself towards the right post 72 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Joel Pabla, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a rather tough play, Bahía é Carnaval's Francisco Orlo got a free kick in the 75th minute. Generoso Abreu lost his temper 80 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. In the 79th minute, one of Los Muchachos del 86:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Los Muchachos del 86. Melchor Nayely sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 88th play minutes Feliciano Fe shot 5-1, a short shot which went by Ramiro Erasto and just under the crossbar into goal. After a defensive mix-up in Bahía é Carnaval's zone, Joel Pabla stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sergio Romeri came out of the goal and Joel Pabla tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Bahía é Carnaval's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
