If Teobald Siembab had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 9 minutes, Humberto Saron made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Floriana Celtics's Ian Manchè tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After a rather tough play, Philadelphia Union FC's Gaudencio Bermudez got a free kick in the 11th minute. Artem Skomorokha hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. When Miltos Mouratidis fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Philadelphia Union FC's protests and gave Miltos Mouratidis a yellow card for diving instead. After 19 played minutes Philadelphia Union FC got a freekick which was hit by Miltos Mouratidis. Malcolm Hili could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Dominic Orcondona made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Simon Deguara in the 29th minute of play forced Philadelphia Union FC's goalkeeper Dominic Orcondona to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 29 minutes into the match, Simon Deguara had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Dominic Orcondona. Philadelphia Union FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Simon Deguara was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. In the 46th minute Gregory Boffa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dominic Orcondona saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-2 at half-time.

The wind increased when Humberto Saron made the kick off in the second half. Humberto Saron's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ian Manchè read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 51st minute of play. Denys Babak's late challenge caught a Floriana Celtics's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Denys Babak helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Floriana Celtics booed when Philadelphia Union FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Denys Babak didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute Austin Gatt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dominic Orcondona saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dominic Orcondona made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gregory Boffa in the 65th minute of play. Dominic Orcondona showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gregory Boffa, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. After a rather tough play, Philadelphia Union FC's Gaudencio Bermudez got a free kick in the 67th minute. Philadelphia Union FC's Domenico Costacurta was substituted for Miltos Mouratidis. Myroslav Zanevskyi really showed his touch with that goal: 3-3. 84 minutes into the game, Artem Skomorokha was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Philadelphia Union FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Floriana Celtics the free kick. In the 88th minute, Myroslav Zanevskyi left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Philadelphia Union FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-4. 94 minutes into the match, Austin Gatt notched a goal, 4-4, to the right of Philadelphia Union FC's Dominic Orcondona. Dominic Orcondona was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
