In the 13thth minute of the game Adrianinho de Salles who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Breguete FC's Júlio Soares was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 15th minute, Toninho Dias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Aníbal Velasco fell near the penalty area in the 17th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Academia Militar MZ's protests and gave Aníbal Velasco a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 16th minute of the game. One of Academia Militar MZ:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Breguete FC:s goal. The goalkeeper, Silvério Netto, was totally fooled by Breguete FC's Igor Jesus, who 18 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 24 minutes into the match, Academia Militar MZ's Toninho Dias sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Júlio Soares narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 25th minute Adrianinho de Salles shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Júlio Soares saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ronaldinho Gauch kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Adriano Leite received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Silvério Netto came out and tried to block the shot, but Adriano Leite slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 31st minute. 35 minutes into the match, Toninho Dias notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Breguete FC's Júlio Soares. Júlio Soares was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sílvio Luís Mendes in the 43rd minute of play forced Academia Militar MZ's goalkeeper Silvério Netto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Orlando de Andrade to strike the kick off in the second half. Ronaldinho Gauch's late challenge caught a Academia Militar MZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ronaldinho Gauch helped the player get up and apologised. The audience thought a goal was coming when Adrianinho de Salles got free with Júlio Soares in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Academia Militar MZ defense, Adriano Leite kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Silvério Netto. The Academia Militar MZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Silvério Netto should have stopped the shot. 67 minutes into the match, Academia Militar MZ's goal looked a bit too open when Igor Jesus came free, but Silvério Netto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adrianinho de Salles made a well adjusted shot against goal in the 68thth minute coming free in front of the goal, but Júlio Soares would not let the ball come through at any expense and made a nice save by the left post. In the 70th minute, Adriano Leite left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Breguete FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-2. After some careless play in the Academia Militar MZ defense, Adriano Leite kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Silvério Netto. The Academia Militar MZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Silvério Netto should have stopped the shot. In the 80th minute Igor Jesus shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Silvério Netto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Toninho Dias struck a weak shot in the 81st minute. Júlio Soares didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Academia Militar MZ. If Orlando de Andrade had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Caio Neves's late challenge caught a Academia Militar MZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Caio Neves helped the player get up and apologised. In the 84th match minute, Breguete FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caio Neves to maneuver through the defense. Júlio Soares was a little too slow when Orlando de Andrade got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 85th minute. The score was now 5-3. 88 minutes into the match, Breguete FC's goalkeeper Júlio Soares had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Toninho Dias. Academia Militar MZ's Silvério Netto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sílvio Luís Mendes in the 96th minute of play. For all the effort they put into the match, the Academia Militar MZ players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Breguete FC.
