The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Meninos De Cotia's Danilo Domingues proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Meninos De Cotia from getting a goal against them. Waldir Peres showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Xacintu Marin in the 6th minute of the match. Miguel Frank hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. Danilo Domingues showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rick Cabezon, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Waldir Peres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Niceto Lando in the 12th minute of play. Murilo Mattos hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. Niceto Lando recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 17th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Rick Cabezon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Danilo Domingues having to interfere. In the 28th minute Xacintu Marin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldir Peres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Murilo Mattos fell near the penalty area in the 29th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Barcellos Mineiro FC's protests and gave Murilo Mattos a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jeremias Seco in the 34th minute of play forced Barcellos Mineiro FC's goalkeeper Waldir Peres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Rick Cabezon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Waka Barcellos hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 40th minute, Xacintu Marin managed to get in a good position for a shot. Meninos De Cotia's supporters rose to their feet, but Xacintu Marin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Waldir Peres breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Niceto Lando received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Waldir Peres tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Barcellos Mineiro FC's zone, Niceto Lando stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Waldir Peres came out of the goal and Niceto Lando tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Waldir Peres showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Xacintu Marin, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Eriberto Vidal received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Danilo Domingues tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Jeremias Seco was the one to do the kick off. Meninos De Cotia's Danilo Domingues played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caetano Toscano in the 51st minute of play. After 51 played minutes Meninos De Cotia got a freekick which was hit by Michel Stocks. After a rather tough play, Meninos De Cotia's Michel Stocks got a free kick in the 54th minute. In the 57th minute, Meninos De Cotia's Jeremias Seco dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-1. Barcellos Mineiro FC made a substitution. Galo Mineiro replaced Murilo Mattos. Xacintu Marin received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Waldir Peres came out and tried to block the shot, but Xacintu Marin slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 62nd minute. In the 66th minute of the match, Niceto Lando tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Waldir Peres saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rick Cabezon in the 72nd minute of play forced Meninos De Cotia's goalkeeper Danilo Domingues to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Waldir Peres took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Michel Stocks, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 77 minutes into the match, Barcellos Mineiro FC's goal looked a bit too open when Jeremias Seco came free, but Waldir Peres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Waldir Peres made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Xacintu Marin sent off a good shot on target. In the 79th minute, Meninos De Cotia's Agnaldo Siqueira seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Agnaldo Siqueira the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Meninos De Cotia protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Agnaldo Siqueira had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Meninos De Cotia made a substitution. Michel Batistuta replaced Niceto Lando. Danilo Domingues had in the 82ndth minute some difficulties stopping Waka Barcellos's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michel Batistuta in the 89th minute of play forced Barcellos Mineiro FC's goalkeeper Waldir Peres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Meninos De Cotia's Xacintu Marin got a good chance for a goal in the 91st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 92 played minutes Meninos De Cotia got a freekick which was hit by Michel Stocks. In the 94th minute, Michel Batistuta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
