Inácio Urbano hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. After 9 played minutes Desportivo Coala got a freekick which was hit by Inácio Urbano. Ciro Cardozo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serafim Simão in the 15th minute of the match. In the 17th minute João Augusto de Brito shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Delfim Quintal hit a great ball. After 19 minutes, Ronaldinho Abraão mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Palestra do Interior and the Desportivo Coala players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Desportivo Coala booed when Palestra do Interior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. The Palestra do Interior fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. After the first half Palestra do Interior were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

William Luz was shown his second yellow card after 52 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. If Serafim Simão had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 56th minute, Sandy Ogrocki got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 57 minutes of play Desportivo Coala's Inácio Urbano was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when Desportivo Coala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Inácio Urbano didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ciro Cardozo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Serafim Simão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 64th minute, Cauã Novaes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 67 minutes into the game, Sandy Ogrocki was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Palestra do Interior's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Desportivo Coala the free kick. In the 67th match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sandy Ogrocki to maneuver through the defense. Ciro Cardozo stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Serafim Simão's shot from short distance in the 70th minute. After 86 minutes of play, Palestra do Interior's Serafim Simão made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ciro Cardozo was left in no man's land by his defense there! Desportivo Coala's Ciro Cardozo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Serafim Simão in the 90th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Palestra do Interior's Dedé Mazer got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Serafim Simão sent away a hard shot on goal in the 96th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 97 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Sandy Ogrocki. Palestra do Interior's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
