The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by JFSP's Vambola Probach. But to his dismay, Vambola Probach quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Vambola Probach took the ball and in the 9 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 17th match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Vale to maneuver through the defense. Horácio Souto hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. A collision led to Palestra do Interior getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. David Vale hit a great ball. After some careless play in the Palestra do Interior defense, Vambola Probach kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. The Palestra do Interior fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Antônio Carlos Cavalcante should have stopped the shot. Vambola Probach recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 32nd match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ulysses Neto to maneuver through the defense. Sandy Ogrocki hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. The supporters of JFSP booed when Palestra do Interior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sandy Ogrocki didn't get a good kick on the ball. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by JFSP's Vambola Probach. But to his dismay, Vambola Probach quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-4. After a rather tough play, Palestra do Interior's David Vale got a free kick in the 46th minute. JFSP's Vambola Probach got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-4 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Serafim Simão was the one to do the kick off. During the 55th minute of the match David Vale completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave David Vale a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. David Vale kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. 59 minutes into the match, Vambola Probach notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vambola Probach in the 64th minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sandy Ogrocki during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vambola Probach, who was totally free with the ball in the 68th minute. Vambola Probach who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 72ndth minute tested the skills of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Kléberson Laguna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dedé Mazer in the 73rd minute of play. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when JFSP was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 74 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edinson Gentenaar didn't get a good kick on the ball. 76 minutes into the match, JFSP's Vambola Probach sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Antônio Carlos Cavalcante narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Doriva Loureiro hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. Kléberson Laguna showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Serafim Simão in the 89th minute of the match. JFSP's attentive Luciano Coutinho managed to snatch the ball when Sandy Ogrocki made a throw-in in the 92nd minute of the game. After 95 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Serafim Simão.
