In the 7th match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danilo Fontes to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's Zé Roberto Velasco got a free kick in the 8th minute. After having played for 14 minutes, Diego Armando Orange managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's supporters crossed their fingers, but Diego Armando Orange was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Chiquinho Guerra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Serafim Simão in the 17th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Flavinho Toscano left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. When Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's Diego Armando Orange in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Palestra do Interior's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ the free kick. Jhon Barcellos hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 36th match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Danilo Fontes to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's Diego Armando Orange slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Antônio Carlos Cavalcante. That made the score 2-0 after 47 minutes of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Diego Armando Orange to strike the kick off in the second half. Abel Ferreira was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 54 minutes into the match. 54 minutes into the game, one of Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. The goalkeeper, Chiquinho Guerra, was totally fooled by Palestra do Interior's Dedé Mazer, who 57 minutes into the game made a penalty shot that went in on the goalkeeper's left side. 62 minutes into the match, Palestra do Interior's goal looked a bit too open when Duarte Luz came free, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 64th minute, Flavinho Toscano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's supporters rose to their feet, but Flavinho Toscano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Flavinho Toscano in the 72nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's Zé Roberto Velasco got a free kick in the 73rd minute. In the 75th minute, Zé Roberto Velasco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. William Luz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 78th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Chiquinho Guerra having to interfere. David Vale's late challenge caught a Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. David Vale helped the player get up and apologised. In the 82nd match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Vale to maneuver through the defense. Flavinho Toscano hit a great freekick 83 minutes into the match. A collision led to Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Diego Armando Orange hit a great ball. In the 85th minute of the match Dedé Mazer sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Chiquinho Guerra skillfully saved the ball. Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Flavinho Toscano in the 91st minute of play. Chiquinho Guerra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dorival Almeida, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Palestra do Interior's Ulysses Neto got a free kick in the 98th minute. It was beautiful to see Laranja Mecânica FSCMZ's Zé Roberto Velasco in action when he in the 100th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance!
