The audience thought a goal was coming when Santa Luis got free with Cornelio Mino in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vinicio Bidari took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Virgilio Monico, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sixto Cloyo kicked well hit freekick during the 6th minute of the match. When Moises Nisio fell near the penalty area in the 9th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Águilas Poblanas's protests and gave Moises Nisio a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of The Old Boys booed when Águilas Poblanas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Virgilio Monico didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jairo Lizar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cornelio Mino having to interfere. With a little luck, Águilas Poblanas's Cornelio Mino got control of the ball when Sixto Cloyo tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 21st minute, The Old Boys's Santa Luis ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Cornelio Mino. Cornelio Mino yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Aquilino Lauren could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Cornelio Mino made a huge save. Cornelio Mino didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Santa Luis went, in the 32nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. After 39 played minutes Águilas Poblanas got a freekick which was hit by Leonardo Estavan. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Virgilio Monico was the one to do the kick off. Virgilio Guerau charged in rather forcefully in the 52nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Virgilio Guerau the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Cornelio Mino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Santa Luis in the 81st minute of play. Cecilio Maties kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. After having played for 83 minutes, Aquilino Lauren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The Old Boys's supporters crossed their fingers, but Aquilino Lauren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The Águilas Poblanas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cornelio Mino should have stopped the shot. After a defensive mix-up in Águilas Poblanas's zone, Santa Luis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cornelio Mino came out of the goal and Santa Luis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. The Old Boys fully deserved thier win.
