After 3 minutes, Zarando Eguizabal mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Astillero del Guayas and the Azul Y Plomo players grew even worse after the yellow card. Zarando Eguizabal kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. After having played for 4 minutes, Reynaldo Håland managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Azul Y Plomo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Reynaldo Håland was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cristian Diegotxe took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zarando Eguizabal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Astillero del Guayas's Long Yuan De played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reynaldo Håland in the 11th minute of play. Javier Landeras received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Cristian Diegotxe tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 26 minutes into the game, Atahuallpa Quito was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Azul Y Plomo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Astillero del Guayas the free kick. Atahuallpa Quito kicked well hit freekick during the 26th minute of the match. Long Yuan De took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Reynaldo Håland, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Azul Y Plomo getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Atahuallpa Quito hit a great ball. Long Yuan De showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Reynaldo Håland in the 33rd minute of the match. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by José Cifuentes during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A collision led to Astillero del Guayas getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. José Cifuentes hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Reynaldo Håland in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Long Yuan De prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cristian Diegotxe made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dani Galiana in the 40th minute. Afiz Yeo kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Javier Landeras blasted a shot towards the goal in the 42nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Cristian Diegotxe having to make a save. Zarando Eguizabal's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Cristian Diegotxe firmly grabbed it by the left post. Javier Landeras's late challenge caught a Azul Y Plomo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Javier Landeras helped the player get up and apologised. In the 44th minute, Javier Landeras hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 45 played minutes Astillero del Guayas got a freekick which was hit by Zarando Eguizabal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Zarando Eguizabal made the kick off in the second half. In the 54th minute Dani Galiana shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cristian Diegotxe saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Reynaldo Håland's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Long Yuan De firmly grabbed it by the left post. The supporters of Azul Y Plomo booed when Astillero del Guayas was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Allen Obando didn't get a good kick on the ball. Long Yuan De acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 57th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Rogerio Arcos. In the 59th minute, Zeng Ang hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With his leg Long Yuan De managed to avoid a goal in the 66thth minute, when Azul Y Plomo's Reynaldo Håland fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 82 minutes into the match, Zarando Eguizabal notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Azul Y Plomo's Cristian Diegotxe. Cristian Diegotxe was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alex Macías in the 93rd minute of play forced Astillero del Guayas's goalkeeper Long Yuan De to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
