Juan Pedro Owen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Lacunza in the 19th minute of play. Juan Pedro Owen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Javier Casas in the 20th minute of the match. When Francisco Lacunza came up free with the goalie in the 24th minute, the Inter de Chillán fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Francisco Lacunza couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Francisco Lacunza in the 27th minute of play forced CRUZ DEL SUR's goalkeeper Juan Pedro Owen to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Javier Casas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 28th minute of the match, but Juan Pedro Owen made a huge save. Elodio Angellotti showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aaron Zamorano in the 31st minute of the match. A collision led to Inter de Chillán getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Saturnino Troncoso hit a great ball. If Xulián Artaño had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With a little luck, CRUZ DEL SUR's Juan Pedro Owen got control of the ball when Juan Luis Alfaro tried to sneak it across the goal line. Inter de Chillán's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CRUZ DEL SUR the free kick. In the 48th match minute, Inter de Chillán was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Buenaventura Durruti to maneuver through the defense. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 3-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Juan Luis Alfaro was the one to do the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, CRUZ DEL SUR's goal looked a bit too open when Buenaventura Durruti came free, but Juan Pedro Owen reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.
