Magallanes's Tomás Las Casas played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos José Opazo in the 30th minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Magallanes's goal looked a bit too open when Alexandrino Gameiro came free, but Tomás Las Casas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Tomás Las Casas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roberto-Carlos Braga, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. In the 54th minute, Christian Aravena made a precise shot to the right of Serbülent Baysan. FC Anderlecht Huachipato's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Carlos José Opazo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Tomás Las Casas made a huge save. FC Anderlecht Huachipato played a much better game than Magallanes and deserved their victory. The Magallanes players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
