After 8 played minutes Club Deportes Santa Cruz got a freekick which was hit by Ruperto Maxin. In the 10th match minute, General Velásquez was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bernardo Genovesi to maneuver through the defense. 11 minutes into the game, Mercurio Pasos was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Deportes Santa Cruz's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave General Velásquez the free kick. Siluna Hevia stood somewhat misplaced when Guntademaro Goyenechea came free in front of goal and shot 2-0 to the left of him in the 16 minute. In the 19th minute, General Velásquez's Jorge Vicente Squella dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. Apolo Irigoyen struck a weak shot in the 22nd minute. Siluna Hevia didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for General Velásquez. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Manuelo Oñez y Loyola managed to get in a good position for a shot. General Velásquez's supporters rose to their feet, but Manuelo Oñez y Loyola was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Siluna Hevia breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 4-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Elazar Dighero made a kick off. When General Velásquez's Jorge Vicente Squella, in the 54th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for General Velásquez. Ruperto Maxin's late challenge caught a General Velásquez's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ruperto Maxin helped the player get up and apologised. In the 56th minute, Ruperto Maxin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Club Deportes Santa Cruz made a substitution. Romildo Madrid replaced Clemencín Varas. Ruperto Maxin hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Siluna Hevia stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Guntademaro Goyenechea's shot from short distance in the 65th minute. It was beautiful to see General Velásquez's Arnold Schwarzenegger in action when he in the 77th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! 81 minutes into the game, General Velásquez's Jorge Vicente Squella nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Siluna Hevia made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 5-0. After some careless play in the Club Deportes Santa Cruz defense, Manuelo Oñez y Loyola kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Siluna Hevia. The Club Deportes Santa Cruz fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Siluna Hevia should have stopped the shot. There was no doubt that General Velásquez were the better team. General Velásquez's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
