Márió Pálffy started the match with the kick off. After 4 played minutes Rákóczifalva SE got a freekick which was hit by Illés Tar. When the match had gone on for 9 minutes, Márió Pálffy put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Gyula Grosics. Doğan Gayret hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Márió Pálffy in the 13th minute of play forced Nagyváradi AC's goalkeeper Gyula Grosics to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gyula Grosics showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ákos Bökönyi, who was totally free with the ball in the 14th minute. In the 16th minute, Gábor Markos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 17 minutes into the match, Rákóczifalva SE's goalkeeper D.J. Pytka had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by László Szarka. When Koppány Orosz fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Rákóczifalva SE's protests and gave Koppány Orosz a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Rákóczifalva SE's Koppány Orosz got a free kick in the 18th minute. D.J. Pytka showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Doğan Gayret in the 20th minute of the match. Gyula Grosics made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ákos Bökönyi in the 28th minute of play. D.J. Nagyváradi AC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Márió Pálffy was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when László Márton got free with D.J. Pytka in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 42 minutes, Ferenc Puskás mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Nagyváradi AC and the Rákóczifalva SE players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Nagyváradi AC getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Ferenc Puskás hit a great ball. 43 minutes into the game, Péter Barabás cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Gyula Grosics was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 46 played minutes Rákóczifalva SE got a freekick which was hit by Illés Tar. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

The wind increased when Doğan Gayret made the kick off in the second half. Ferenc Puskás kicked well hit freekick during the 53rd minute of the match. If Doğan Gayret had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. D.J. Pytka made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from László Márton in the 61st minute of play. Nagyváradi AC's Gyula Grosics proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Nagyváradi AC from getting a goal against them. 64 minutes into the match, Rákóczifalva SE's Péter Barabás sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Gyula Grosics narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Gyula Grosics showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ákos Bökönyi, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. When the final whistle sounded Rákóczifalva SE left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Nagyváradi AC.
