The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th minute, Ferenc Puskás left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nagyváradi AC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Ede Horváth showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from László Márton in the 8th minute of the match. In the 11th minute, Doğan Gayret left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Nagyváradi AC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-2. Ede Horváth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ferenc Puskás in the 14th minute of play. In the 17th minute László Márton shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ede Horváth saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 19 minutes into the match, Nagyváradi AC's László Márton sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ede Horváth narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ede Horváth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Roland Szikora, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ede Horváth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Roland Szikora, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. After 42 played minutes Sporting Savaria got a freekick which was hit by Mihály Dobó. Ede Horváth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from László Szarka in the 43rd minute of play. After 44 minutes of play, Nagyváradi AC's Ferenc Puskás made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Ede Horváth was left in no man's land by his defense there! The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.

51 minutes into the game, László Papp cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-6. Ede Horváth was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 58th minute, Ferenc Puskás made a precise shot to the right of Ede Horváth. Sporting Savaria's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-8. Ede Horváth made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when László Márton sent off a good shot on target. In the 65th minute, Nagyváradi AC's Ferenc Puskás ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ede Horváth. Ede Horváth yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-9. Ede Horváth made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Doğan Gayret in the 68th minute of play. László Márton scored 0-10 in the 69th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ede Horváth, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Ede Horváth was out of position in the 74 minute of play, and Doğan Gayret capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Doğan Gayret really showed his touch with that goal: 0-11. In the 80th minute, István Benke hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Sporting Savaria's Ede Horváth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Doğan Gayret in the 81st minute of play. Ede Horváth stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jenő Buzánszky's shot from short distance in the 87th minute. When Balázs Kádár fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting Savaria's protests and gave Balázs Kádár a yellow card for diving instead. In the 89th minute of the match László Papp shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ede Horváth showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Ferenc Puskás kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Ede Horváth. That made the score 0-13 in the 90 minute of play. Roland Szikora received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Ede Horváth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Sporting Savaria fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Nagyváradi AC were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
