When the match clock showed 7 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Golo Duarte sped through Portugal's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Máximo Correia. 13 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Podwojski came free, but Máximo Correia reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Daniel Podwojski came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Podwojski couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land's Duarte Duarte got control of the ball when Yuri Vargas tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 24th minute Ernst Giöck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Máximo Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Portugal's Máximo Correia played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Podwojski in the 25th minute of play. In the 27th minute CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land were awarded a corner. Aquiles Duarte went to the cornerflag to take it. Máximo Correia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Podwojski in the 40th minute of play. After 42 minutes, Amadeu Bessa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Portugal and the CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land players grew even worse after the yellow card. Máximo Correia took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Diego Quadros, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Máximo Correia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ernst Giöck in the 45th minute of play. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Golo Duarte to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute of the match CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land got a corner. Portugal's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Aquiles Duarte ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land's corner Ernst Giöck fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Máximo Correia quite easily take care of the ball. 54 minutes into the game, Diego Quadros was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Portugal the free kick. Portugal's Máximo Correia proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal from getting a goal against them. Máximo Correia made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Golo Duarte in the 57th minute of play. Golo Duarte who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 60thth minute tested the skills of Máximo Correia when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The audience was convinced that Golo Duarte's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Máximo Correia was relentless in the 60th minute of the game. Portugal's Yuri Vargas got a good chance for a goal in the 64th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land's Filinto Ferro was substituted for Paulo Duarte. Gar Galo made in the 68th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Gustavo Brás. In the 71st minute Ernst Giöck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Máximo Correia saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Duarte Duarte made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Yuri Vargas in the 76th minute of play. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind Portugal's goalkeeper Máximo Correia, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 81stth minute of the game Yuri Vargas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land's Duarte Duarte was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 81 minutes, Yuri Vargas made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land's Duarte Duarte tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Thanks to some nice moves Ernst Giöck could shoot a difficult shot in the 90th minute, which Máximo Correia however easily saved by the left post. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Amadeu Bessa hit a great ball. CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land's Aquiles Duarte got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Golo Duarte had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Portugal fans cheered their team off the field, for while CASTROMIL FC -Golden Land had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
