The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 4 minutes into the match, Garanhão do SUL's goal looked a bit too open when Wit Matuch came free, but Ignatius Casasola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edgar Costa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 5th minute of the match, but Antoni Walaszkiewicz made a huge save. When Laércio Rebocho fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Garanhão do SUL's protests and gave Laércio Rebocho a yellow card for diving instead. Laércio Rebocho kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. After 11 minutes Garanhão do SUL's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marco Amaral who took care of the corner kick. Antoni Walaszkiewicz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Torcato Rebocho went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Ignatius Casasola showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Hélder Lira in the 18th minute of the match. 20 minutes had been played when some careless play by Garanhão do SUL's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Marco Amaral was slow to take the kick. During this time Śląsk Katowice's players had a chance to rest. In the 21st minute of the match Angel Edorta sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Antoni Walaszkiewicz skillfully saved the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Roriz in the 27th minute of play forced Śląsk Katowice's goalkeeper Antoni Walaszkiewicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 29th minute Teofil Rzegotka shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ignatius Casasola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Hélder Lira came up free with the goalie in the 32nd minute, the Śląsk Katowice fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hélder Lira couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Teofil Rzegotka in the 34th minute of play forced Garanhão do SUL's goalkeeper Ignatius Casasola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edgar Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Antoni Walaszkiewicz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from André Roriz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Garanhão do SUL were awarded a corner in the 43th minute after Śląsk Katowice's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Akis Kefallinos took the corner. The supporters of Śląsk Katowice booed when Garanhão do SUL was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Laércio Rebocho didn't get a good kick on the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Śląsk Katowice's goalkeeper Antoni Walaszkiewicz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edgar Costa.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Hélder Lira got free with Ignatius Casasola in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Hélder Lira sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Antoni Walaszkiewicz stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of André Roriz's shot from short distance in the 61st minute. If Edgar Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edgar Costa in the 62nd minute of play forced Śląsk Katowice's goalkeeper Antoni Walaszkiewicz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Garanhão do SUL's Ignatius Casasola got control of the ball when Hélder Lira tried to sneak it across the goal line. Ignatius Casasola came out of the goal in the 70th minute to try and stop a shot by Śląsk Katowice's Marek Bronicki. But to his dismay, Marek Bronicki quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Garanhão do SUL's Obafemi Fabiani was substituted for André Roriz. After a rather tough play, Garanhão do SUL's Laércio Rebocho got a free kick in the 75th minute. In the 76th minute Marek Bronicki shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ignatius Casasola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 77 minutes into the match, Albano Leizarraga notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Śląsk Katowice's Antoni Walaszkiewicz. Antoni Walaszkiewicz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Marek Bronicki recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 82nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A collision led to Garanhão do SUL getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Torcato Rebocho hit a great ball. Albano Leizarraga might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Antoni Walaszkiewicz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Albano Leizarraga ran back to his position shaking his head. If Marek Bronicki had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Garanhão do SUL's Adriano Leite got a free kick in the 91st minute. In the 96th match minute, Śląsk Katowice was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Grzegorz Borowski to maneuver through the defense. Śląsk Katowice's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
