Central Coast Mariners's 毛默俊 got a good chance for a goal in the 7th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. AS Monaco's 罗烨鹰 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 毛默俊 in the 9th minute of play. 邵翔邦 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 龚永彬, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. After having played for 26 minutes, 毛默俊 managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Central Coast Mariners's supporters crossed their fingers, but 毛默俊 was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 28th minute, 龚永彬 managed to get in a good position for a shot. AS Monaco's supporters rose to their feet, but 龚永彬 was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. 邵翔邦 breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 陆谦迪 recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 吴磊克's late challenge caught a Central Coast Mariners's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. 吴磊克 helped the player get up and apologised. In the 40th minute, 吴磊克 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. 龚永彬 was the one to do the kick off. 邵翔邦 showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from 龚永彬, who was totally free with the ball in the 51st minute. 龚永彬's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but 邵翔邦 read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 55th minute of play. After a rather tough play, AS Monaco's 孙潮竞 got a free kick in the 89th minute. A collision led to AS Monaco getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. 龚永彬 hit a great ball. AS Monaco succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Central Coast Mariners had controlled the match.
