In the 24th minute, Ahmed Mazzid got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When 김 운 fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ulsan HD FC's protests and gave 김 운 a yellow card for diving instead. In the 27th minute, Kasdi Harkouk sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Ulsan HD FC's 최 하늘 didn't even have to move. 30 minutes into the game, 최 팽 was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ulsan HD FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Sanfrecce Hiroshima the free kick. In the 31st minute, 최 팽 hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 33 minutes into the match, Ahmed Mazzid had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of 최 하늘. Ulsan HD FC's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ahmed Mazzid was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. In the 39th minute, Fouad Al-Jazairia got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 41st minute, Fouad Al-Jazairia ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. 최 하늘 was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. 46 minutes into the match, Ulsan HD FC's goal looked a bit too open when Ahmed Mazzid came free, but 최 하늘 reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when 김 간 stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. During the 59th minute of the match 김 운 completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave 김 운 a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. In the 62nd minute Ahmed Mazzid shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but 최 하늘 saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Ulsan HD FC booed when Sanfrecce Hiroshima was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lakhdar Ulansi didn't get a good kick on the ball. 강 어금 was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 76th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Fouad Al-Jazairia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 81st minute. 최 하늘 tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 최 하늘 made an important save on a dangerous shot by Fouad Al-Jazairia in the 83rd minute. After a rather tough play, Ulsan HD FC's 박 지 got a free kick in the 84th minute. Ahmed Mazzid's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but 최 하늘 read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. 최 하늘 took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ahmed Mazzid, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 91 played minutes Ulsan HD FC got a freekick which was hit by 박 지. Ulsan HD FC's 최 하늘 played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ahmed Mazzid in the 93rd minute of play. 최 하늘 showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ahmed Mazzid in the 97th minute of the match. The Sanfrecce Hiroshima supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sanfrecce Hiroshima would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
